🏥 How to Play — Hospital Manager
🎯 Your Goal
🏆Keep your hospital running efficiently each day. Place the right resources, manage your budget, and handle whatever conditions the day throws at you. Aim for an Efficiency score above 70 every day.
🔄 Each Day
🎲Today's Conditions are randomly assigned at the start — you cannot change them. Conditions like Flu Season or Outbreak increase patient numbers significantly.
🚑Click Simulate Next Day to run the day. Patients arrive based on the scenario, and your hospital's resources are tested. You earn revenue based on efficiency.
💰Use revenue to buy more equipment between days. Prepare for surges before they happen!
🏗️ Placing Items
👆Option 1 — Click: Select an item on the left panel, then click any valid room on the hospital floor to place it there.
🖱️Option 2 — Drag: Drag items directly from the 📦 Storage room (bottom-right of the hospital floor) into any room. The storage count decreases as you use items.
🗑️Removing items: Click any placed item to remove it and receive a 50% cost refund.
🛠️ What Each Item Does
🛏️Hospital Bed ($15,000) — Goes in Ward A, Ward B, or ICU. Each bed adds +1 patient capacity. Target: keep bed occupancy below 75% on a normal day.
🩺Doctor / Nurse ($40,000) — Goes in Staff Station. Reduces the patients-per-doctor ratio. Safe zone is under 18 patients per doctor. Expensive but high-impact.
🚨ER Bay ($25,000) — Goes in Emergency Room. Adds +1 emergency capacity. Keeps ER utilization below 75% during surges. Heat waves and holidays hit ER hardest.
💊Medical Equipment ($8,000) — Goes in any room. Each piece adds +4% efficiency. Best value per dollar — stack these once your bed/ER capacity is stable.
🏆 How to Win
🎯There's no single end screen — the goal is to sustain a high efficiency score over many days. Aim for Efficiency 80+ consistently. Here's what that looks like:
🛏️Beds: Keep occupancy below 75%. With 50 patients on a normal day, you need about 12 beds minimum. Add beds before simulating surge days — Outbreaks need ~25+ beds.
🚨ER: Keep utilization below 75%. On a normal day, 3–4 ER bays covers 50 patients. Add 2–3 more if a Heat Wave or Holiday Weekend hits.
🩺Staff: Stay under 18 patients per doctor. With 50 patients, 3 doctors is fine. During an Outbreak (80 patients), you'll want 5+.
💰Money: You earn $3K–$8K per patient depending on efficiency, minus daily operating costs. A well-run hospital with 50 patients earns ~$15,000–$25,000 per day.
🚦 Room Status Colors
🟢Green bar — Room is operating normally, capacity is fine.
🟡Yellow bar — Room is getting busy. Consider adding more resources.
🔴Red / pulsing — Overcrowded or overwhelmed. Act fast!
💡 Pro tip: Keep bed occupancy and ER utilization below 75% as a buffer. The starting layout handles a Normal Day at ~60% — you have room to grow! Equipment ($8K each) is the best value per dollar once your capacity is stable. Save enough budget to handle a sudden Outbreak before it hits.
